"In recent years, the quality of Casa de Sarmento's wines and sparkling wines has reached a remarkable level of recognition. The various awards achieved and market demands set the tone for the construction of a new winery, co-designed by the architects Eduardo Souto Moura, winner of the Pritzker Prize in 2011, and Joaquim Portela.
The impressive building, largely constructed below ground level and discreetly integrated into the landscape, houses the technical areas related to wine production. It also includes a dining space that honors the origins and core business of Casa de Sarmento, with the vineyards as its surroundings and the lush scenery of the Bussaco Mountains on the horizon."
